A Quieter Taipei in October

October, when everyone’s back at school, and the weather starts to cool down a bit, I saw a different side of Taipei. I spent a rainy week in Taipei in October, staying in the city and exploring the quiet streets.

Walking around the commercial streets of Guting, home to several banks, a quick turn into a smaller street reveals a different side of the area.

Flooded by trendy students at night, surrounding Shi Da Night Market are quieter leafy residential streets.

Xi Men Ding, a popular busy area for youths and tourists. The outskirts reveal some interesting residential buildings.

On the other side of Xi Men Ding, far away for the noise and bustle, is where the hipsters hang, near Taipei Cinema Park.

And there, hidden in an alley, you’ll find somewhere that reminds me of home in Sydney, the industrial Woolloomooloo WOW.
